21 Feb 2020

PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) obtained the Certificate of Recognition for its sustainable performance from Global Initiatives, whom partners include the Indonesian Business Council on Sustainable Development (IBCSD), PwC Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce.

The certificate was awarded for the performance of companies in business, social and environmental aspects and to highlight their commitment in sustainability during the Indonesia Sustainable Business Awards 2019 in Jakarta.

After a three-stage judging process that went on for several months, the quality of the submission were measured based on 12 out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) categories in the areas of workforce, energy and water management, community, business responsibility and ethics and strategy and sustainability management.

In his keynote speech, Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa, called on businesses to implement the suitable SDG categories that will benefit their respective industries and stakeholders. “SDGs is a business opportunity, not a business burden. SDGs is an investment opportunity for creating higher returns in the future," he said.

Ditto Santoso, Head of Community Involvement and Development (CID), accepted the certificate on behalf of ANJ. There are 20 national and multinasional companies from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, who were selected  as finalists and  recipients of this award, currently in its 8th year running.

"The certificate from the Indonesian Sustainable Business Awards is a recognition for ANJ's commitment in sustainability and how it was communicated to all of our stakeholders," said Sustainability Director Fakri Karim. “ANJ believes that the best method to optimize yield is through responsible approach on growth and sustainability that balances the economic, social and environmental aspects of our business."

IBCSD Presiden Shinta Kamdani put the emphasis on commitment by businesss on sustainable efforts in climate change issues. “All businesses – especially those that to date have been silent on the threat of environmental and social challenges – need to step-up to raise ambition and actions to tackle the problems, to achieve our sustainable development goals,” added Shinta.
