Jakarta, 9 November 2023 – PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) once again secured the 'Platinum Rank' title at the 2023 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) event organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR). The award was personally presented by Dr. Ali Darwin, Chair of NCCR, to Nunik Maharani, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications of ANJ, on Monday (6/11) in Jakarta.
ASRRAT is an awards event initiated by NCSR to recognize business entities for preparing sustainability reports (SR), held annually since 2005. In its 19th year, NCCR's award theme is 'Navigating the Path to Net Zero: Accelerating Climate Action in Asia.
In his remarks, Dr. Ali Darwin, Chair of NCCR, commended the commitment of ASRRAT 2023 participants to transparently report environmental and social risk mitigation efforts through sustainability reports.
“The company's and organization's dedication to transparency and accountability, coupled with their efforts to assess and address environmental and social impact risks, is inspiring. Sustainability reports offer valuable insights into the progress in reducing emissions, conserving resources, and advancing social justice. This also serves as a roadmap for other businesses and organizations to follow," said Dr. Ali Darwin.
The award secured at this year's ASRRAT event marks ANJ's sixth accolade. In preceding years, ANJ attained the 'Platinum Rank' twice and the 'Gold Rank' three times.
Nunik Maharani, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications at ANJ Group, remarked that the award further solidifies the company's accomplishments in sustainability reporting. This accomplishment aligns with the company's dedication to transparently and accountably communicate its sustainability performance, incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. ANJ achieves this through a sustainability reporting system adhering to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. These disclosure and transparency requirements empower companies to measure the impact of their governance and sustainability programs more effectively.
Nunik also elaborated that, as a responsible player in the palm oil industry, ANJ is highly dedicated to minimizing the impact of climate change. In line with its Sustainability Policy, ANJ has pursued various sustainability initiatives. These include reducing fossil fuel usage, using palm oil waste for combustion in boilers, decreasing reliance on inorganic fertilizers, implementing fertigation, and actively engaging with employees and local communities in conservation, fire prevention, and mitigation efforts.
"We communicate our initiatives through various channels, particularly the Sustainability Report, a document we have consistently published since 2017. This report stands as a tangible expression of our commitment to transparency. We believe this achievement will strengthen public confidence in ANJ's performance," concluded Nunik.
