Jakarta, April 22, 2024 – PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) and all its subsidiaries celebrate Earth Day by reaffirming their strong commitment to protecting the planet through educational activities focused on environmental preservation for young children. One manifestation of this commitment is the implementation of the Conservation School in various operational regions of the company.
The Conservation School is an innovative program designed to raise children's awareness of the importance of preserving the Earth. It aims to educate children on various aspects of environmental preservation, including biodiversity, climate change, and natural resource management.
Nardiyono, Head of Conservation ANJ, stated that the primary goal of the Conservation School is to instill a sense of love and responsibility for the environment in children from an early age. This initiative aligns with ANJ’s vision of being "a world-class agribusiness food company that enhances the quality of human life and nature."
"Through the Conservation School, we aim to cultivate a love for and a sense of responsibility towards the environment in children from an early age. We believe that the younger generation is key to preserving the Earth for the future," said Nardiyono.
He emphasized that the Conservation School not only focuses on education but also encourages children's active participation in conservation efforts. Students can plant trees and observe the flora and fauna in ANJ’s conservation areas.
The Conservation School program is conducted both inside and outside the classroom. In the classroom, children learn about the causes and effects of climate change and how they can contribute to reducing carbon emissions. Outside, they explore the conservation areas of the ANJ Group and discover the various flora and fauna that inhabit these spaces. Additionally, children participate in tree-planting activities and learn about the importance of trees for environmental preservation. They also receive education on proper waste management and ways to reduce pollution.
The Conservation School has been implemented at six of ANJ’s subsidiaries: PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri (ANJA) and PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri Siais (ANJAS) in North Sumatra; PT Sahabat Mewah dan Makmur (SMM) on Belitung Island; PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL) in West Kalimantan; and PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP) and PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM) in Southwest Papua. The program has engaged over 200 children and has received recognition from various stakeholders, including the government and local communities.
Zulfikar, Head of Environmental Control at the East Belitung Environmental Agency, expressed his support for the Conservation School activities conducted by the ANJ Group through its subsidiary, SMM. He stated that this initiative represents a positive and innovative step taken by the company and the private sector. Such activities are essential for children, as they help them understand and protect their surrounding environment, including its flora and fauna.
Looking ahead, ANJ hopes the Conservation School will benefit children and the broader community while contributing to efforts to preserve the Earth.
“We hope this program will help children understand the importance of protecting the Earth and inspire them to take action to safeguard the environment. We believe the future of the Earth lies in the hands of children, and we want to support them in becoming responsible and sustainable generations,” concluded Nardiyono.
