KAL PROVIDES TRAINING IN MILKFISH CULTIVATION AND FEEDING FOR THE KUALA SATONG COMMUNITY

Ketapang, 27 October 2023 – PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), a subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) located in Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan, is implementing a milkfish cultivation program to improve welfare and encourage economic opportunities for surrounding communities, using a mangrove silvofishery system. KAL is hosting a series of technical training sessions on milkfish cultivation and alternative feed. The training event occurred on Thursday (19/10) at the Mangrove Center in Kuala Satong Village.

KAL collaborated with the Ketapang Regency Food Security and Fisheries Service as the training presenter. The training was attended by community groups involved in fisheries cultivation and those who have just started their milkfish cultivation business.

The milkfish cultivation training prioritizes the mangrove silvofishery system, a pond system that enables farmers to conduct their business without causing damage to the mangrove ecosystem.

Saipol Abidin, the Head of Kuala Satong Village, expressed the positive impact of the KAL initiative in actively engaging the residents of Kuala Satong Village, renowned for the richness of mangrove plants in its vicinity. Integrating milkfish cultivation with mangrove plants represents a viable solution for enhancing the economic well-being of the community in Kuala Satong Village. He looks forward to the continued successful progress of milkfish cultivation.

Iwan Kurniawan, Head of Cultivated Fisheries at the Ketapang Regency Food Security and Fisheries Service, also commended KAL's efforts in organizing the training. He emphasized the demand for a stable supply of milkfish in Ketapang Regency, expressing optimism that superior products from the fisheries sector will emerge from Kuala Satong Village. In his presentation, milkfish cultivation techniques and the process of making alternative feed are explained straightforwardly, ensuring easy adoption by community groups and individuals.

Dadi, General Manager of KAL, affirmed the company's ongoing commitment to support local economic programs and improve community income in the surrounding area. This activity represents KAL's support for the Ketapang Regency Government Program in achieving the Desa Mapan dan Terdepan (MAPAN) vision. Additionally, the mangrove silvofishery system aims to promote sustainable aquaculture practices.

 

Dadi emphasized, "We aim to positively contribute to improving the economy and welfare of communities around KAL through this program. This effort aligns with the ANJ Group's vision to improve community life through societal programs.”
