ANJ GROUP SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF PAPUA'S LOCAL TALENT, COMMENDED BY SOUTHWEST PAPUA'S ACTING GOVERNOR

Sorong Selatan, January 22, 2024 – “We have the right to be prioritized for employment, but it is equally our responsibility to prepare ourselves. Just like in government, where Indigenous Papuans are prioritized, there are certain requirements to meet. The same applies to companies—standards must be upheld, and we must equip ourselves to compete and meet those expectations,” said Mohammad Musa'ad, Acting Governor of Southwest Papua.
His remarks were made during a dialogue with Indigenous Papuan workers employed by PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) subsidiaries in Sorong Selatan—PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP) and PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM). The session was held during his visit on Tuesday, January 16, at the PMP Hexagon White Building.
During the discussion, the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, accompanied by Samsudin Anggiluli, the Regent of Sorong Selatan, emphasized the crucial role of palm oil plantation investments in driving regional development. These investments are expected to create an environment that enables Indigenous Papuans to thrive and reach their full potential. The Acting Governor also expressed his hope that Indigenous Papuans would play an active role in development, benefiting from the positive effects of sustainable economic growth. To achieve this, Indigenous Papuans need to become more involved at all levels, from production to management.
In addition to the discussion, the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua and the Regent of Sorong Selatan visited the PMP oil palm plantation area, where they inaugurated the PPM inpatient Primary Clinic. The Acting Governor signed a commemorative plaque during the inauguration ceremony.
On Wednesday (17/1), the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua and the Regent of Sorong Selatan visited PMP, where they witnessed the signing of the official document and the handover of the community plantation developed through the company's facilitation. The handover was represented by Juli Wankara Purba, Director of PMP and PPM, to the Sukka Mandiri Bersama Producers Cooperative and the Maju Bersama Sejahtera Papua Producers Cooperative. With the handover attended by the acting governor and the Regent, the company fulfilled its obligations per the regulations set by Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 98 of 2013 and Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 18 of 2021.
During the handover ceremony, Juli Wankara Purba, representing the management of the ANJ Group, expressed his gratitude for the visit of the acting governor of Southwest Papua and the Regent of Sorong Selatan to ANJ Group's operational area in Sorong Selatan Regency. He emphasized that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand the progress of ANJ Group's regional investments and their challenges. Juli also reaffirmed the ANJ Group's commitment to contributing to the region’s economic development through its social and environmental responsibility initiatives, which positively impact the local community.
In addition to touring the palm oil plantations, the acting governor and the Regent, accompanied by their delegation, also visited the sago starch processing facility at PT ANJ Agri Papua (ANJAP), another subsidiary of ANJ located in the Metemani District.
